Mail Online shared the sad news that Eddie was taken ill with food poisoning during the BAFTAs tonight.

As an actor the night of the EE BAFTAs is not the best evening to get ill.

But exactly that happened to 31-year-old Eddie Redmayne.

The star was unable to present an award with American actress Sally Field, 66, in London on Sunday night as he was taken sick backstage.

Eddie looked healthy and happy as he arrived on the red carpet earlier that evening.

He chose to wear a classic tuxedo on the night which he teamed with a matching bow tie.

Underneath the dark jacket of the suit he wore a bright white shirt.

Eddie was supposed to present the award for Original Screenplay with Lincoln star Sally Field but was unable to come to the stage on the night.

Explaining his absence to the audience, Sally said: ‘He seems to be puking his guts out back there.’

However, despite his healthy appearance on the red carpet, Anne Hathaway later revealed Eddie was suffering with food poisoning.

The actress updated the crowd and said she would happily hold Eddie’s hair back if she wasn’t picking up her award for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables.
